Established in 1986, the Laboratory Technology department was created to meet the needs of the Kuwaiti labor market. The department offers two programs for students to choose from: 'Applied Chemistry' and 'Applied Physics'. Under the guidance of the department's faculty members who are research-active in academia and have relevant industry experience, students will be exposed to theoretical and practical training. The department also provides freshmen level courses in Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics.

The department is located on the second floor of building 20 at the Shuwaikh Campus. Courses for the male and female sections are located in buildings 20 and 21, respectively.
