The Telecommunications Department is considered one of the most distinguished specialized departments in the institute, since it is the only department in Kuwait, to graduate technicians in the field of wired and wireless communications, wireless networking, specializations in radio and television broadcasting, as well as the radio and television studio specialization, which are designed with the highest job skills and global standards. All programs in the department are academically accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
The department, represented by its members, develops its programs and specializations on a regular basis through specialized workshops with experts across government and private sectors. These workshops cater to the needs of department graduates in various specialties, ensuring their training requirements and skills align with the latest technological and scientific advancements.
The department implements a theoretical and practical training system for its regular programs, as well as customized programs upon request from the job market. 2- Telecommunication Technology (Academic Accreditation by (ABET)
Job Title: Second Wireless Telecommunication/Networks Technician

After the completion of this training program, the trainee will be able to:
• Read, monitor and follow-up frequencies for all transmitters and receivers of telecommunications.
• Deal with overlapping frequencies during reception and transmission.
• Detect the resulting faults during reception and transmission.
• Recognize the list of international frequencies.
• Identify the signals of stations and ensure that they are complied with service documentation and international frequencies.
3- TV and Broadcasting Studio Technology (Academic Accreditation by ABET)
Job Title: Second Telecommunications/Control Technician

After the completion of this training program, the trainee will be able to:
• Prepare and equip radio and television studios for the daily broadcasting.
• Ensure the studio preparation in coordination with the main control room.
• Monitor the signals level in the studio`s various devices.
• Track and repair faults as well as periodical maintenance for devices.
4- TV and Broadcasting Transmission Technology (Academic Accreditation by ABET)

• Operate and inspect TV Radio transmission and reception equipment.
• Monitor signals during successive broadcasting phases.

5- Fiber Optic Technology (Academic Accreditation by ABET)

After the completion of this training program, the trainee will be able to:
• Read optical fiber cable diagrams.
• Implement and track fiber optic cable diagrams.
• Install and operate fiber optic cables.
• Monitor, maintain and troubleshoot, and repair fiber optic cables.
• Ensure the security of fiber optic cables.
• Ensure the application of quality standards for fiber optic networks.
• Supervise maintenance networks, monitor contract execution, and enforce security and safety regulations.
The graduates of this department can work in various governmental fields represented by ministries, institutions and government authorities, for example, the Ministry of Communications, Transportation, Information, Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Defense. In addition to the private sectors such as oil companies and telecommunication companies, as well as banks.
