The Navigation Department was established in 1976 at the Institute of Wired and Wireless Telecommunications and was called the Marine Studies Department. The Navigation Department is considered as the only provider that feeds various sectors of the job market operating in the field of Marine and Air transport services. Such uniqueness is not only in the State of Kuwait, but also in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Countries. During the last ten years, the department has achieved qualitative leaps and changes in terms of the main areas of the training process, which is the foundation of the Department in translating the ambitions and aspirations of the labor market. In order to achieve the largest return of training, the department has recently approved its programs with one of the prestigious colleges in the marine field, namely, the Australian Marine College, and the Air Traffic Control Program was accredited by the International Organization of Civil Aviation (ICAO).
The Navigation Department is one of the important training pillars and foundations of the navigational movement and activity in Kuwait. it is managed by Kuwaiti national personnel with good competence and skill.
The Department also has the world's first and largest marine navigation and aviation simulator complex, which includes the following simulators and laboratories:
• Ship Control Room Simulator
• Connected Tug Simulator linked to ship’s control room
• Four small simulators connected to the tugboat simulator
• Global Marine Distress System Simulator, (GMDSS) linked to ship control room
• Planetarium
• Control Tower Simulator (for commercial and military aircraft)
• Flight Simulator - Airbus 320
• Navigational Chart Laboratory
• The fishing equipment laboratory, in addition to many other laboratories that will serve the training process.
1- Coastal Master

• Drive Coastal boats of a load of 150 tons in total.
• Apply Kuwaiti regulations to small ships.

2- Maritime Telecommunication:

• Use marine signal codes, telephone telecommunications and radio telegraphs to carry out telecommunications between stations and commercial marine vessels.
• Use very high frequency and UHF to carry out marine services as per the International Law.
• Operate GMDSS System.

• Familiarize with the safety and security rules agreed upon by International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in order to maintain the safety of passengers at airport's buildings.
• Prepare and write reports of all kinds.
• Familiarize with the devices of airport's buildings, which facilitate passenger affairs and monitor airlines operating at the airport.
7- Air Traffic Control (Academic Accreditation by ICOA)
Job Title: Air Control Officer

After the completion of this training program, the trainee will be able to:
• Familiarize with International Air laws, International Civil Aviation organizations and international treaties.
• Familiarize with Civil Aviation abbreviations and definitions of all kinds of aircrafts.
• Familiarize with the laws of land and air routes of aircraft, the laws of altitudes and differences between aircrafts and regulation of takeoff and landing movements.
• Control Air traffic and airport atmospheres.
8- Aeronautical Information

• Control and inspect all airport areas to ensure that employees comply with safety regulations and laws.

• Deal with dangerous factors and radioactive materials.
10- Meteorology
