Participation of Department Members in the Scientific Poster Day 2025–2026

Under the patronage and presence of Dr. Hassan Al-Fajjam, Director General of the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training, the Research, Consultancy, and Innovation Administration organized the Scientific Poster Exhibition for the academic year 2025/2026 at the Central Library Building in Shuwaikh Educational Area, with distinguished participation from faculty and training staff across the Authority’s colleges.

The Civil Engineering Technology Department at the College of Technological Studies recorded a remarkable presence, with a total of 11 participations including scientific posters and research papers, achieving four awards: First and Third Place for Best Poster, in addition to two awards in scientific publishing.

First Place for Best Scientific Poster was awarded to Dr. Hani Abdullah for his research entitled:
"Behavior of Post-Tensioned Concrete Slabs Strengthened Using Different Strengthening Techniques", which evaluated the effectiveness of strengthening post-tensioned slabs using Reinforced Concrete Jacketing (RC Jacketing) and Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) through both experimental and numerical programs. The results showed a significant improvement in load-carrying capacity compared to international code requirements. A numerical model using the Finite Element Method (FEM) was also developed, and a parametric study confirmed that improving strengthening material properties or increasing the number of CFRP layers enhances the structural performance of the slabs.

Professor Fahad Al-Otaibi participated with two scientific posters, one of which won Third Place for Best Poster, in addition to a research paper that received the Scientific Publishing Award in journals ranked within the QS classification for Arab universities. Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Hilal also received the Scientific Publishing Award for a research paper published in a Q1-ranked journal.

Additional participants included Dr. Jamal Al-Mutawa (two posters), Dr. Mahdi Shahab (one poster), Dr. Mubarak Al-Rumaidhi (one poster), and Dr. Abdullah Al-Rashidi (one poster).

Engineer Dalal Issa Al-Masri participated with two scientific posters in the fields of Structural Engineering and Hydrological Engineering. The first poster studied the effect of mechanically treated recycled asphalt aggregate on shear resistance in concrete, while the second focused on groundwater dynamic modeling and estimating the interaction between surface water and groundwater at the Lake Spotswood site in Australia.

This achievement reflects the advanced academic and research level of the Civil Engineering Technology Department and confirms its continuous commitment to supporting scientific research, innovation, and contributing effectively to the advancement of engineering knowledge and community service.
